Rear End Problems
I was trying to determine what kind of rear end I have, so recently I picked up a new rear end cover, might as well kill two birds with one stone. While proceeding to put it on, I put the rear end of the truck on jack stands. While on jackstands, I spun the right rear wheel.....click.click.click, and the left tire isn't spinning. So I turn it towards the back, click.click.click.....and the left tire kind of spins backwards. I move to the left wheel....turn the wheel forwards....click.click.click....and the right tire spins forwards, as well as turning the wheel backwards.
Any ideas why? Also, to give a little more information, when I turn corners, I hear clicking out of each turn. I've asked a lot of people and they say that it's probably a posi.

sounds like either a worn out ratchet style locker or a gov-lock grenade

Is this a 1/2 or 3/4 ton?
Do you know that you have a posi or locker in it for sure? If it is 3/4 ton you probably have a No-Spin locker in it. They should make some noise when cornering. If it is a 3/4 ton and you hear the clicking while it is jacked up as you describe, I would venture a guess to say that something is worn inside that allow the locker to unlock too easily. Both wheels should turn. Just my thoughts. Not an expert on the No-Spins.

Was the truck in gear when you were spinning the tires?

No, it was in neutral, which now thinking about it, would have made a difference. It is a 1/2 ton, and in speaking with some buddies here locally, I think that I have locking diff. However, I'm still not 100% positive that that's what I have. Probably not the smartest thing to do, but after checking out the rear end on Tuesday, I took it out on the street and brake torqued it a little, and she left dual tire marks, so I'm still not sure what I'm running.
