I guess I have one too...nothing really to worry about if parts are within the same era but if your P.O. used parts from sereval different era's of Truck you may run into a few headaches I guess...I sorta just experienced this...minor tho...

hahaha, i have about the most frankensteined truck you could ever get. i bet i have parts from 20 or so different trucks on it. the frame, front susp., and rearend are from 3 different trucks, and that's not even a rolling chassis yet .
the good thing about it is you get to keep all the best parts to make one truck with .

Well.....the # on the cab & frame match on the longhorn, but chit gets weird after that! the rh front fender & hood are from a 71, & the front box panel & tailgate are from 2 different boneyard trucks(not too bad for a 69 I guess). The bottom side is a different story tho......the 12 bolt & also front suspension & brakes came from a '75 C 10, the trans & driveline are from a '78 camper special, steering box is from an 84 Burb , the eng block itself is an early 70's (unknown for sure , cause the block was decked) , 2 bolt /350, bored & stroked to 383. the top end came striaght from Edelbrock. it runs 73-up waterpump & pullies ,ect........quite the mix of pcs from several trucks. for the most part tho, I can shoot for mid 70's at the parts store , & have no trouble getting parts....... 69Longhorn

I have a Frankenstein truck... I call it the "Garden Truck". The only original piece of sheetmetal on it is the glove box lid. It started life as a 72 GMC K/20 and now looks like a 72 Cheyenne K/20. Here is a run down on the parts as best that I can remember..
72 GMC K/20 Chassis 72 Dana 44 front end with F**d hubs. Dana 60 Rear out of a 71 Chevy 72 GMC Seira Grande 2X4 small hump cab 69 Front Fender L/H 71 Chevy Core Support 69-72 Reproduction Front Fender R/H 69-72 Cowl Induction Hood 72 Chevy Long Bed W/Steel Floor 72 Chevy Doors Bed Front off of I don't remember Chevy Tailgate off of I don't remember 71-72 Aftermarket crome grill with billet insert 2 bolt block from who knows what. The original was cracked in the lifter valley. Original tranny and transfer case (rebuilt of coarse) Door panels from another 72 I had. 67-68 bucket seats Tilt out of a 71 GMC Suburban I guess that the heating system was out of the original truck. Rebuilt windsheild wiper motor.. (I used the original for a core though..lol) Reproduction inner fenders Classic Heartbeat Duel electric fan assembly Crank up Spare tire carrier out of a 90s chevy truck Lots more that I am not remembering. Mine is a 67 cab/bed/rear-fenders with a 69 front-end and hood. I have no idea why the PO did this, but I really want a real 67 front clip.

"but I really want a real 67 front clip."
Got one in the backyard. I got this to use on my Franky but I am considering selling it and sporting the bucks for a new 70 outer grille (or maybe a 71/72 grille to add to the drama)

Mine is! VIN # shows it to be a 1970 cab chassis truck with a 350, originally had a 4 speed. When it was bought in '78 it had a 283 with a TH350, then the engine/tranny went south and Granddad put a 1970 350 2 bolt and 1967 TH400 in it in '79. All the drivetrain/suspension is original, even the ball joints which I changed about 6 months ago were original!
Grille/front bumper-71-72 hood-I recently changed it, came from a 71 fenders- not sure, 69-72 rad support-original? cab/doors-1970 C20 Longhorn, i even have the glovebox door with the longhorn info! bed- not sure, 69-72 *edit: cant forget the wheels! two 15"x8" eight lug white spokes in the front, one 16.5x9.75 white spoke on the pass. rear, and one 16.5x9.75 stock wheel on the drivers rear.

hmmm,
70 longhorn, about to get a '72 bed, has a 76 caddy 500, and 78-ish pontiac Th350, torque converter from 77 eldorado, an 80 van column, a 92 steering wheel, a later blazer/truck console (cup holders) GMC grill from a 70, fenders from a 69 GMC, hood is from a 71/72 chevy, 4 miss matched hubcaps with trim rings from a late model, rear tires off a class 3 moble home, wheels from late model GM vans, quite a few items from mid 90's P/30 trucks.....door panels... one from an early 69 chevy, the other froma a late 69 chevy, (they are NOT the same) aux electric fan off an early 90's ponticrap something or an other... And door lock caps off an 88 ford ranger. I'm sure there is more.... |

both mine have a little of everything, The 71 has the most between the two:
front clip from various vehicles 70-72, unknown motor year w/ long pump set-up, 70 C20 cab and bed, unknown year tailgate, bumper from the 70 GMC, no-spin from Eric, seat from another truck. The GMC has a 67 long step bed w/ 70 Chevy fenders and steps from different trucks, bought the tailgate off of another board member.

mine is not a super mutt, but it started as a 70 short step. Doors are from a 71 Chevy, bed is from a 71 GMC, driver's step fender is from Putter's truck (69 I think), seat is from a 94, column is from a 69 GMC. Steering box is from whatever Randy70-C10 got it from. Steering wheel is from a mid 90s chevy.

Mine is pretty much one truck body and sheetmetal wise. 1 re-pop fender. Lots of small do-dads from lots of junk-yard trips though. So I guess I am in the minority!

This is a great topic!
-Started life as a 2 tone white/orange highlander longbox, leaf rear -Factory 350 4barrel replaced with an HEI model from an 84 burban -Factory rear gears replaced with more "fuel friendly" highway gears from burban. -Factory steelies with hubcaps replaced with rallys from burban -Rebuilt TH350 with stage 2 shift kit from something -Carpet from a carpet store -1971 box with mismatched trim in green and GMC not chev (but rust free) -Wiring right off the bulk 16awg roll.
