No X Member Drop

If I don't do a x member drop or tubular control arms will I be able to lay frame if I am running a 27" tire?what are some oter methods to get the front down?

Not likely. You'd have to do a pretty big Z on the frame. Why would you not want to do these other methods?

he's got a drop x-member and tubular control arms, if i remember correctly, and the only reason i said "Z" is cuz he said no drop x-member and no tubular control arms

Well your cross member and A-arms hang lower then the frame rails, so you may be able to lay out on your A-arms, but you will still be a good 2.5 inches off the ground or so.

Yep not X member drop, but i have tubular a-arms. still not close to laying frame.

I spent the money with ART the were 749.00 Shipped. thats for upper and lowers.

Actually i found that the z is relatively easier, and you can get the same outcome with very little work. I z-ed my 65 panel 4" with an 80 gmc front crossmember with 3" drop spindles and slam specialties bags. The bags use lower cups upper plates, and i lay rocker on a 28-29" tall tire. The only mods i had to do to accomodate the z was that i moved my engine/tranny combo ahead 3" to some factory holes for distributor clearance, and i also notched the factory upper control arm on the drivers side to clear the steering shaft. I have power steering on it, factory upper and lower a-arms, firebird column, the steering linkage of the GMC front suspension and no crossmember mods. I know alot of you may think 4" is alot, but check with Loweredd, hes also got a 4" z and he lays rocker on a 20" rim with decent(sorry not sure of the exact specs) sized tires, not running rubberbands or anything. But... if you have any questions on the z ive got pics and did it all myself so i can explain everything. I hope i helped.

With those tube arms I would use some smaller diameter washers as those will scrape to hell lol Mine did the first time out with my BYC tube lca's aired out. If only they made some indestructible paint.

Sure looks like a lot of bondo though! Awesome design, I would love to make a panel like that some day, minus the "ground effects"

yeah, that filler was only on one door, after welding on the outer door bottoms then having it get dented, and trying to get back to flat. I was going to get a new door... before it fell to arson... it was/is a cool project, im building another one here real soon.

This is correct. The A-arms hit well before the frame or body.....

Ouch... that doesnt hurt nothing..... never got into the lowering, is there a point when you have to replace the a-arms because they keep getting set on the ground and scraping off metal????? just curious

Shouldn't hurt anything unless you air out while driving and drag them. Then it'll shred them up pretty quick.
