Rear end on a 55 2nd series pickup

Can i install a 1978 camaro rear end to my '55 stepside. If i'm abe to use1978 camaro rear end, will it be a easy bolt on installation? Can i use the camaro leaf springs. What are some good donor cars or trucks that will fit??? Anyone have any knowledge on this? Measurements would be nice too on axles. Thanks. Also, anyone have some for sale????

I am planning on useing the same rear end on my 58. The width from brake backing plate to plate should be the same or close. I believe you have to change the axel spring pads. The 55 springs are narrower than the camaros. The 71-81 camaro rear ends should fit. If you have the old rear end measure it and call around for the camaro ones. Then measure them. The spring pads can be ordered online or from some of the dealers in your area. johnj
