can anyone tell me if a leaf spring rear end will fit a coil spring frame. i have a 373 pos in a gmc with leaf and just need to know if i can put it in a swb frame with coil. any help with this app. thanks todd

Sure, but you need all of the hardware that attaches the leafs to the chassis.

meaning ill have to remove all the rivets holding the brackets on the frame and bolt those on new frame.

are you just wanting to use the rearend or the leaf assembly as well. If you want to stay with coils you will have to weld new perches to mount to your swing arms, which is in my opinion easier than converting to leaf

ok maybe ive jumped the gun let me back up and regroup my intentions are to make 69 swb frame 5 lug disc in front 5 lug in back drum i have a lwb 71 gmc disc front rear 3.73 i can handle the front what i need to know is i have 68 chevy lwb coil spring rear can i change the axels or will i have to chang the diff. and evertyhing or will this not work going from 6 lug housing to 5 lug or should i changethe whole rear.any help app. to randy and jamal i think i understand what you both mean thanks.

some axels will fit some wont, there is a fact somewhere on this. At some point the axels are longer than the earlier ones, but there is also a thread on redrilling the current axels to fit 5 lug drums.

He's right, the rearends came in two different widths. You have to measure from hub to hub to insure that you get the right width to do the axle swap.
