Blazer to shorty 4x4?

Picked up a '72 Blazer that has rust in floor and door pillars. I have a rust free '71 pu cab. I'm thinking of cutiing off front tub and making a super short 4x4. Anyone done this? Would then sell front tub, doors, double wall top and roll bar. Wondering what parts are worth with no shipping. Located in Tucson AZ. Will have pics when it stops raining Thanks for info.........Rick

Another Option

You could also section the cab at the factory weld seam and graft on the blazer windshield frame, that way keeping another blazer alive.
Thats exactly whats going on in the pics below.

Short Truck

What do you plan to do with it? I have always liked the looks of the trucks on a K5 frame. I almost did it once, but opted to buy another blazer instead because I have kids that like to go on the trails with me. Blazers hold more people. I think that a truck cab with a small flat bed behind it would be pretty sweet as well. What part of Tucson are you from?

I did that once, and I want to do it again. I didn't really have the money to do it right the first time, but it was coming along until my wife crashed it. Only 1 picture of it survives, I need to get it scanned someday so I can post it. I used a 70 Blazer frame and a '67 cab. I had a little flat bed for awile, while I was scrounging parts. When I had enough parts, I built a step side bed for it. There was only about 2 inches between the back of the cab and the front of the fenders. It was pretty cool, got a lot of comments. It was my daily driver for several years. It was about 15 years ago when it was wrecked.

Should be able to load pics of project sometime this week. I'll try to take pics throughout. Don't know when I'll have to change from blazer forum to truckforum? I'll be listing parts for sale as soon as I can load pics on computer. Having a problem with camera transfering. Later.........Rick
