I need to replace the Defrost lever but dont see any way to remove the one in the control assy, seems to me they are sealed. Has sombody made this work already. Can somebody share the instructions to me?

I just replaced mine, I ordered a set from Chevy Duty and they had good instructions.

The set I ordered included all three levers, and did not require any additional hardware or posts.

You will need to file the sides of the two posts on the underside of the assembly. The top should then pop off and you can replace the arm. To reassemble put the cap back on and strike the posts with a small punch to flare them back out. You can also put a dab of epoxy on them. It was really alot easier than I thought It would be.

ps Don't forget to put the little spring washer back in.

The kit I ordered from Chevy Duty had instructions inside on how to replace just the defrost lever. It does involve drilling a hole and installing a new bolt that comes with the kit. It's not too bad.

My defrost lever is bad also. Sure wish I would have known it needed replacing when the truck was apart. It is a pain to pull out now with the aftermarket a/c in the way.

Is it just the defrost that goes bad or should they all be replaced when it is out?

I ordered the whole set but I only replaced the defrost as the other ones looked Ok. It was only $3 more for the whole set anyways. Does anyone know why its the Defrost that always breaks. After replacing the lever and cable I ended up just leaving it unhooked from the defrost, seems like it just takes too much pressure to move the defrost arm up.
