voltage regulator mount??

I am so close to driving my truck again, but am having a couple minor issues. (well, minor now, they did not seem so when I discovered them - just more setbacks!! lol).

1) Voltage regulator. The donor motor and it's alternator needed the voltage regulator. The motor previously in my truck did not (had been converted). No sweat right? I went and picked up the little black box, and got ready to mount her up. WTF? The bolts seem Way too long. They're the bolts off our donor truck and it's voltage regulator (it's a 70...mine is a 72). We can't get them to thread all the way through the gromets? ANyone have any ideas????

2) Tranny kickdown. I'm stumped here. It won't kickdown, it did before we moved it into this rig. Tried adjusting the kickdown cable. Could it be the carb throttle cable?

3) That's the big stuff. Then I get it home and i can work on all the little stuff!

Thanks in advance guys

Why not keep the internal regulated alt? You are beating your head on the wall to take 3 steps back.
