1968...16,000 miles...nice buckets!

Just spotted this one on ebay. Maybe it has been posted but these buckets are just nuts! I thought the ones in oldiron's truck were nice originals!

If I had Bill Gates money I would buy it just for the seats and hubcaps and give the rest of the truck to Longhornman if he could resist posting for one week...ROFLMAO!

Andy...I thought I could catch you sleeping...LOL! I'll bet the tailgate on this one looks great too! It's going to make someone a sweet ride! The only thing I would want is a big block in that thing.

Seats have probably been redone with new vinyl. It's not quite 100% correct for 68

CPNE, I am curious why you think the seat has been redone. It looks awfully close to the color (although unfaded) and pattern that I have seen on my '67 and '68. Just curious because someone always picks up a clue that I did not see.

Here are the seats from my old '68 c30...now oldiron's award winning flatbed ! This truck had 63,000 original miles and the seats did not fade and it was not stored in a barn. Maybe you are seeing something that I am not...I am sure curious though.

Man, that is a SWEET LOOKING TRUCK! I always hate these ebay auctions because I can just never bring myself to believe the seller.... Georgous truck, but even with 15K on it from NY..... That baby must have only been driven on dry days and never seen a lick of snow....

I have not seen every original 68 bucket seat obviously, but [b]all[/b[] I have seen have pleated inserts only as shown on this OE seat in Toms68CST truck. Now I know the pic is of a bench seat but all the true original 68 vinyl buckets have the same feature. That's why I think the covers are not vintage 68.

See, no piping or variation of color as on the originals. Ebay truck seat pic. I'm not knitpicking but you asked why. These covers look like they were moulded out of a single piece of vinyl, not a 2 piece unit with a different shade insert as original

And there you have it...LOL...that little clue that I missed. I noticed on my buckets that there was some piping around the insert that you can see in the picture that I posted! GOOD EYE! Now, knowing that the seats might have been recovered and the seller did not mention it...what else did he fail to mention?

Before everybody nit-picks this beautiful truck to pieces, remember that vinyl seat covers don't last forever.

That truck pretty obviously has only 16k on the clock. You should be happy if you got that truck and somebody already fixed the seats for you.

That's pretty nice. The pics are so funny though, it totally looks like the guy photoshopping those twinkles on the hub caps in the 1st and 3rd pics. At first it looked so fake, but now I can't tell if they are actually real twinkles

The reflection lines up with the fender and hood reflections so it must be real. Besides those are polished ss hubcaps that really do look like chrome! I can't believe that there are only 5 pics of the truck and 6 of the camper...WHAT GIVES! I want to see the engine bay!

Real twinkies or not, ID TAKE THAT TRUCK ANY DAY!

Those seats had me fooled too until Jeff pointed out the stiching diffrence. The color and texturing looks almost identical to mine. It's possible that they changed the manufacturing process at some point. Hard to say though. There's a real low milage 68 GMC out in western ND I spotted one day a few years ago. It had what looked to be original and correct buckets in it. I don't remember if they were like the ones in that auction. I'll have to pay closer attention if I see it again.

Good eye Jeff!

Even that camper looks to be in really nice shape. If anyone aquires any more pictures be sure to post them. Especially of the motor and interior.

Tom, I am going to look at a stock '68 tonight or tomorrow with the original blue buckets and I will photograph them. I emailed the ebay owner for pics of the engine and asked about the seats. I would love to have that truck but I will bet that it does not pull even one bid!

Here is his response to my question about the interior:

<<chevy65man is the seller.
Seats are original. I'll get a photo of the engine. Thanks for asking.

Here's the "correct" seat cover in blue. As you can clearly see, the insert is a darker color and a different material, a true "insert", not a different "impression" in the same piece of vinyl. All 68 buckets I've ever seen are like this

Otherwise that truck looks to be everything claimed. I thought the air cleaner looked a little funky but I see it has the oil bath option. It's hard to believe that those are not the original seat covers unless the originals were damaged somehow and had to be replaced.

How'd you like to find this old gem in a barn? Is that paint wear on the upper fenders or is it just dust?
