Fluid on intake gasket - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I have some kind of fluid on the small piece of the intake gasket that is exposed on the passenger side exhaust port. It does not have a smell to it so I dont think its coolant. I checked the bolts and they are all tight so I dont know what it is. It looks clear but cant be for sure. Any thought on what it could be would be apprecitated. Engine is a crate 350 with a edelbrock 2101 intake and qjet.

Its hard to smell oders in the engine bay I find (too many chemicals going on all at once). Could be water from condinsation (a drip from your air cleaner...naw that sounds like a looong shot, weird) Has the intake been on very long? Did you rtv all the intake bolts & gasket when it was installed? Could be ealry warning sign of an intake gasket failing... I'd keep my eye on it... hows your truck running? I just thought of something else.... could be rad coolant, a small amount from your rad hose or somewhere and the fan might of blew it there. Have you recently been WOT or running high rpms?

Edelbrock 2101 intake was installed about a month ago. Gaskets are the ones that Fel-pro recommends for the intake. I did use rtv onthe gasket, bolts got thread sealer when installed.Truck is running fine no probs there. No really high rpms usually around 2500-2700 but thats the max.

Ok I think I found it. The mystery fluid is oil. I pulled the passenger side valve cover to find that the gasket was pushed in right across from where the exhaust port is on the intake. I pulled off the valve cover and fixed the gasket. So far so good.
