Vapor Lock problem

My 69 starting getting "vapor lock" since I put new exhaust on it. The Exhaust pipe runs about 6-8 inches from the metal fuel line. Will Cloths Pins really work? Some old guy told me to try that. I guess it absorbs heats?

clothes pins work good for hanging wet laundry out on the clothes line//6-8inches should be more than enough clearance look more at the line from the pump to the carb ,it shouldn't be touching the engine block or laying on the intake manifold//first check that your fuel filter isn't dirty second while the gas line is disconnected from the carb turn the engine over with the dizzy disconnected and the fuel line dumping into a jar should pump about a pint in 15seconds if not your pump maybe going bad or the fuel strainer in the gas tank maybe clogged // if you suspect vapor lock after these checks a crumpled up piece of aluminum foil around the line will serve as a temp heat shield to verify the problem

What makes me think its Vapor Lock is, when I remove the line off the carb it lets out alot of air. The Line going to carb also is pretty hot.

What about using heat resistant spark plug wire Sleeving or Boot Protector?
