spare tire ideas??? anyone

Anyone got any ideas for spare tire carriers? I am not interested in the ones that bolt onto the body. Was going to make one off the receiver but still want to use the receiver and get the tailgate open easy. Pictures, ideas????

BobbyK made on that hinges on his bumper. It's very sturdy looking.

I've seen reciever hitch adapters for bicycle racks that go into the reciever and permit you to still use a hithc along with your rack. If you are going to build your own, you do do something similar. The rack below permits use of the reciever for towing while still using the bike rack.

existing hitch

My existing hitch is like the top one you posted by hidden hitch.
It does not hinge like the bottom one. See pic. I in very interested in other options outside of the receiver as I want to pull my holiday trailor using the equilizer hitch. When I do something else I would be interested in selling my existing one.

I have a factory tire holder behind the rear seat it is good But, The hoops of my rag top hit it when they are laying down. So when I put my top down I have to lay the spare on the floor.
Since my top is down most of the time the spare is laying on the floor most of the time.

If you are willing to get away from the factory bumper and built a heavy guage steel one,you can do anything.Another thought,You could leave it and make a mount on your camper for when it`s in use.

I never thought about the extra mount for the trailer.
That would be easy.
thanks

When I got my Blazer, it had the spare mounted in front of the grille. The center hole was centered on the bowtie.
