Can someone identify these Diffs?
Iv'e looked at several threads on front and rear ends, but I'm still not sure. I think the rear end is a dana 60? it's a full floater in a 71 3/4 gmc. I looked for id in the webbing and all I can find is the # 60 on the rear and nothing on the front diff. TIA, Al

A powr-loc was an option in the rear and a trac-loc was available for the front(both clutch type). There are drop in type lockers available for both as well as limited slips and full lockers(aka- detroit locker) available. The drop in lockers are the cheapest/easiest to install, with the others requiring the gears to be re-established since the carrier has to be replaced. I have a no-spin(detroit-locker) in my eaton rear of my chevy and have a eaton rear to replace the dana60 in my GMC one day that will also have a detroit locker. Open fronts in both for now, but am leaning towards a drop-in locker for those. Since the drop in locker uses the original open case it is considered not as stout, but if you keep the tire size down around 33" it should be no problem. I have a powr-loc(factory) in my GMC now, it holds fairly good and I tested per the 1970 Chassis manual and it's still in spec after 35 years, but it is no locker.

by "drop ins" do you mean something like a lock right or aussie lock ? Money is an issue, as always.
