Calm B4 the Storm
Knock off a few things yesterday and today. Spent yesterday and most of this morning cleaning out the roof and drip rail seams of whatever the heck they put in there. I think the original owner helped GM a bit in this area. But I got it all striped out and cleaned up the door seal area on the passenger door of it's 30 year old glue and stuff. Nice an clean, no real rust, but now I have it coated with the Esatwood stuff. Man that seam between the top and rear poetion of the cab is a real &^%$#.

I was also able to finish cleaning up and shoot my bare metal fenders. I still need to clean up and shoot the eastwood on the inner side of the step fenders, but at least all my other work won't tarnish any more.
Of course after all this, I have to batten down the hatches in preparation for Katrina. Wish I had a bigger shop. Almost through with that stuff. I'll take care of a few minor things tomorrow.

Be Careful Bill
Bill,
You take care of yourself and the family. Let us know that everything is OK when things "blow over". This would have been a good time for a PA vacation. You'll be in our prayers brother. Mike

Krue as of this moment, we are planning on staying here. Looks like we'll get some, but it appears New Orleans area is gonna get the worse.
HottrodTodd, PA would be good about now, but I don't think the Boss would approve

Just remember, the last few storms have veered east of the projected track at the last minute. Be careful

Looks very good. Soon I will be doing the same thing. May I ask what you used to remove the crud out of the gutters and roof seam? did you have surface rust to start with?

tomatocity - I used a stripping wheel and wire brush wheel on my electric drill. I also used a drywall knife for getting into the groves real well. And no I was lucky, I had no real rust in this area. It was starting to on the rear seam, that's why I wanted to clean it out and get it coated .

Jodie, the Eastwood is a whole lot easier to put on spray or brushing. Too me you still need good prep, but not nearly the exacting required for POR. Long term, I dunno. It is supposed to be good, but we'll see.
Krue...Be safe up there guy, you are going to get hit nearly as bad as us.
