My 72 caught on fire
My 72 caught on fire, I can’t believe it. I had th car running outside for a good 20-30 minutes while I was inside. I was trying to let it run for a while, I don’t drive this truck much. Its seems like there was a short in the wires from the fuel pump or sending unit. I just bought this truck too. Everything inside is gone, I am so discourage now I don’t even know if I want to finish this project. I was so excited on finishing this truck my next mod was going to remove the old tank and replace in the rear. How ironic.

Oh dayum
I feel the pain lookin at those pics, my condolences, it sure looked nice before. I had a 69 Super Bee catch fire on me after I banged a tree, so I do know the despair you feel, wow, what a flashback.

That was a nice looking truck. You are discouraged now but there isn't anything you can replace or repair. You can start with the fuel tank relocation. This will give you a chance to personalize this very nice truck.

It looks bad but it's definately fixable!!! I can get you started on your re-build, I have a complete un-cut wiring harness with ignition switch and key that I just pulled from a 72, I'll ship it to your door for $50, it's nice!! Too bad you're so far, because I have 4 gas tanks laying around.

Hmmmmm, noticed that it's an AC cab, my harness came from a non-a/c cab. Are they different?

Man I'm sorry. Gut out the interior and acess the damage. Maybe it'll be a little more encouraging. The engine bay looks ok?

Did it blister any paint on the roof or back of cab? It doesn't look like it got hot enough to warp the cab but you never know. Sorry to hear about your loss.

I'm going to check the wiring in my truck. I just remembered when I was in high school, my step-dad had one of our trucks and it caught fire too.

dude, that sucks.
I say park it in the garage for a month and then see if you still want to sell it. Sad thing is, it's still worth more than any of my trucks were...hell, it's worth more than all the trucks i've had combined. |

Was it insured, don't do any more to it until the insurance adjusters have looked at it.
Feel for ya......but don't give up yet, one step at a time! At least it isn't parked in New Orleans right now!
