texas license plates Question

did texas plates for trucks back in 67-72 have truck written on them or was it just texas the year issued and the #
i believe some states like pa used to indecate truck on the plate.

This is the truck I bought 4 days ago the guy said that the plates where 70s if you look close you can see the word truck

You could also get Farm truck plates

would it be out of place to see a 71 pu with plates that didnt say truck?? resadential plates???

Here's some that I have. You can't tell but they're off white with light blue letters. The regular truck plates are used, but I can still register 'em. The farm truck plates are brand new, bought 'em from a guy in Dallas. I'll use the farm plates some day, but they look cool hanging on the wall in my room for now.

I am pretty sure you have to match the plate with the vehicle t6o get it registered. Truck plates for trucks, Car plates for cars.

i m not gonna regerster it with the plates just some thing for the shows.
so i guess all trucks were isued TRUCK PLATES only??

I just purchased a set of plates for my 72 and it says truck on them .Farm truck plates were also issued.

Found the plates on ebay. There are several people that sell them. Just do a search as I don't have the contact info any more. I think the seller was in Midland , Texas.

Yes, Texas trucks used truck plates regardless of personal or commercial use

I have seen several sets of unissued Texas Truck 68 plates on ebay in the last 6 months. They always sell for about a buck more than I bid... Around $35+shipping was the last set I remember.

The unissued Farm Truck plates seem to go for a little less. I bought a set for $20+ $4 shipping.
