Questions about a flywheel on my '79
Okay, I went to change the starter on my '79 because it sounded horrible. Come to find out that my flywheel teeth are pretty ground down and its got a big crack in it. Is it possible to find a decent one at the junkyard? I am hoping to pull my transmission and transfer case backwards like 5" or more and support them and just change it out like that? Is it possible to do it like that or what?
Thanx for any input. -Later

you should be able to find one at a junk yard (previously tried ).Just make sure you get the right one.The Difference is the teeth count on the ring gear and i think but could be wrong One is 168 teeth and the other is 144 .I am sure some one will know the count for sure tho.I have one that is out if you need ,just pay the shipping and it is yours.
