Tech question on dropping my ride.
Hey all, I could probably call belltech and find out this info, but I would rather find out this info from this forum and guys whom have been there. I would like to lower my stepside with 20" wheels or a 20/18" combo. Not sure what kind of drop I want 4/6 or 5/7, but I have a hidden hitch I still want to tow with this truck...Now, what I have....
-I have 2" drop spindles already with cross drilled rotors...and that's where it ends...anyone want to help me figure it out from here...pictures, tech, anything you might have, I'd rather do this when I am stripping the entire frame ya know. Thanks in advance all!

having dropped approx. 30 of these trucks myself,my suggestion would be to get some 3" front coil springs, and a flip kit for the rear. theoretically that should give you 5"/5" but you will get closer to 4.5"/6" unless you are running new rear leafs. you will most likely need to do at least a bolt in notch for added clearance. and helper bags for any kind of decent towing capacity. some add a 2" shackle on the rear for more drop but i would not suggest this unless doin a step notch. thats my 2 pennies. hope this helps you out some.

I've never been a fan of 3" drop springs, as I feel like they are just too short to work properly. I'd go with 2" drop springs.

already have
I already have 2" spindles together, should I go with 3" coils? Also, when you say take out the fender wells, is that with 18" inthe front or 20's?

To muddy the water a bit, how 'bout selling your 2" dropped spindles and getting 3" dropped spindles. Then, go from there. That may give you the most flexibility on lowering your stepside in the future. If your going to tow, maybe you could do bags over leaf out back sorta like N2trux (which would require a strong step notch). Up front maybe bags instead of drop coils. Then you would have the ability to adjust to the ride height when towing.
I can't find a 4-6 drop stepside with 20s, but here's a pic of a 6-7 static drop stepside. He's running a 3" drop spindle with a 3" drop coil. Out back, he's running a flip kit with a 2" shackle. Wheels are 255/50R17s up front and 285/45R18s out back.

hmmm
I kind of like those 18" and 17", but if you all think that is best maybe I should sell the 2" drop coils huh.
