Fuel Injection System on an old Big Block? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

OK, So I have a 402 in my '70 4X4 and with 6 mpg, I've been considering a fuel injection setup of some sort. The increased fuel efficiency is just so tempting.
Either a multi-port or throttle body type.

Has anyone with a big block done this conversion? You likey?

I'm getting tired of dealing with my Edelbrock carb.

I bought a 1991 Suburban with a TBI system and a automatic overdrive transmission to put into my 67 GMC, should make it a nice cruiser and decent gas mileage. You could go with an aftermarket fuel injection but they are spendy. I have a 71 Chevy 402 with a turbo 400 in my 56 Chevy extended cab with a 2.73 rear end and I am getting about 16 mpg on that and it is not a light rig. Cruises on the highway very nice.

Yeah, I'm still trying to figure out what I have for gears - I think 4.10? the tag on front diff reads "45-11" then "4.09" under that.
Anyway 16 mpg is awesome!

I'm going to do EFI when I get around to it.

Megasquirt II, Edelbrock rails (they make SBC, don't know about BBC), 4 barrel throttle body on my Performer RPM. It is rather pricey, but carbs are "yucky"

The only problem with high rear end gears are no squealing tires for me. I guess I need to conserve the fuel anyway.

Check this guy out, www.customefis.com. He uses older GM fuel injection parts. He may have what you need. I am going to put his system on my 305V6.
