ALMOST RAPED!!! for shipping...

By one of these "shipping" places. I am trying to get this underdash A/C shipped to jakeslim. FedEx showed to be the cheapest at $25.00. I was off on the weight, I put 20 it actually 26 which puts shipping at $28 according to the website. This dude at the mailbox place spits out...$65.00 f'in dollars! I pointed out to him the FedEx price and he said "well, we have to add some on to make a little money". I understand that, but $h1t....
So, I will be going to the main FedEx hub tonight to ship this stuff. I have to ship a tach dash to byrd as well. See for yourself... 15x15x49 at 25.76 lbs. at FedEx.com for Ground service.
I know tha need to make money, but to add on $30+ is rediculous...

There is a price for convenience
That is why I do all my own packaging and use the Post Office for almost everything

They are the cheapest and the most effiecient for me too, and the best part is I have NEVER had a damage claim with the post office, and don't get me started on fedex and ups. I've been waiting on a insurance reimbursment from fedex for over a year now The ups store tries to pull the same crap too, I had a 69 outer grill shipped to me from Florida and I sold it to a guy in Florida(don't ask) and went to ship it in the same box mind you and they wanted $112.00 At that rate of return the owner could retire in a year

That is a good deal, but 9 out of 10 I have gotten shipped to me thru fedex have been damaged and the real cost of shipping a cluster in the right box 21x15x12 to insure good packing with the cost of a box and bubble wrap, and the peanuts, is about $17-20, with the actual shipping cost itself priority mail is around $10-12 depending on where it is going. The boxes I buy to ship my restored clusters in are this size and they cost $2.50/each, and add about $6 in peanuts( 3 clusters per bag @ $19/bag) and $1.75 in bubble wrap, plus insurance and that gets you up to about $20 at least. Shipping the clusters the way I do will insure no damage will occur, and Mike you can speak to my packing of the cluster I restored for you

USPS blows...with my first online business they lost about 1 out of every 20-30 shipments, and we're talking 25-50 shipments per day.

I also had a $1300 turbocharger get sent (via UPS aka BROWN) from the turbo shop in Waco, TX to some business in SC when it was supposed to be coming to me in Ft. Worth. A lady there called UPS but they never did pick it up. I had to buy a new one and waited at least 2 months for UPS to pay the insurance claim.

Fedex is usually the fastest and cheapest, but the hub isn't real close to me.

My .02

Oh, and FYI, UPS store doesn't give UPS Customer Counter rates, but Office Depot does. Go figure.

I'll tell you what, check out DHL.
I shipped a 55 pound tool box from here to Jodie in southern GA, cost me 22 bucks, a 20 pound tilt column from here to TN, cost me SEVEN BUCKS!

Same experience--UPS Stores and Mailbox stores are the biggest rip off since the Oil companies became a Monoply. Check DHL or Fed-x with a home account. They will ship fairly cheap, insured, and come pick up at my door for $3.
