Replacement Fuel Float
Anyone found a good replacement for the fuel float, the new ones I ve received only last about 2 weeks before they leak (Taiwan or china made floats suck "My Opinion") , I tried to seal them with JB weld and now there too heavy, anyone looked into a plastic one or a suitable replacement?????
Maybe its time to dig out some new tanks and see whats in them... Thanks Smitty

Meangreen,
No, but I'm still lookin'. I'm on my third one in three years. 2 weeks ago, I knew I had a full tank but the float was sitting on the bottom, full of gas. I had already re-soldered and topped that one off with JB, just around the center seam. Lasted almost a year. Posted on the board and got the suggestion to coat the float completely with JB. I did that, kept it real thin, but she still seemed awful heavy. Sure enough, I put everything back together this morning, filled er up and, @&%$*#, gauge is showing less than a quarter, so I guess it's floating somewhere near the bottom. I'm looking for a cork or solid plastic float. The Cavileer (and I'm sure others) has a solid plastic one. I'm NOT looking forward to using up that d$mn expensive gas and dropping the tank, AGAIN!! BTW: Anyone know how a 21(?) gallon (poly Blazer)tank can take 21.45 gallons of fuel? That's what it showed on the pump, and I had about a gallon in there already...... Good luck,

if the floats are dipped in gastank sealer they'll float good for a long time

I've used MasterSeries Permanent Rust Sealer to prime my chassis and the instructions say it can be used to seal fuel cells and should work if painted on the float. POR15 is a moisture curing urethane also, so why not give it a shot?

Good news,
Hopefully you will find that number for me, I have had some good ones in the past, but soon as the truck sets the float goes bad, Im tired of trying products on the floats, I dont mind pulling the one out of the 68 behind the seat, but I m not going to keep droppin the tank under the bed of the 71....youd think one of the aftermarket guys would make a replacement plastic float,,,,would make a killing in my opinion........ Smitty..... I am going to check out a corsica float this week....

We had to replace the sending unit float in my great Uncle's 1981? Ford F100 and the new float looked just like the ones for our trucks. Costed about 6 or 7 bucks at the Ford dealer, they had about 12 in stock too.
