Cool Vent window changeover to later model assy's

Hi All!
I did the vent window changeover today on my 84 1/2 ton.
I used the later model 87-91 issue assemblies having the thicker gaskets!
The thicker gaskets work well!
They fit they same as the earlier versions.
The only thing I saw different was that the middle securing screw on the door's 45* pillar was not desigened into the newer ones; so you will not need the extra screw and angle washer.
However, my screws were very tight, or what I call : Metal Seized.
I had to get a BBQ propane bottle with the Sears Craftsman Torch attatchment and heat up those pesky screws.
Be careful not to try to remove them if they are too tight as you might strip out the X on the head of the screws!!!!
You will need every bit of that X to get those screws out!!!

I will do 1 pic per reply...
Here is the old vent assembly showing the middle securing positin existing.
On the newer versions, that position is eliminated.

Cool

The beefier late model gaskets are cool! Ive read about these before and I believe in them!
Took a ride down the freeway here, no road noise or leaks thru those vent windows.
I was able to hold a long distance cell phone conversation without issues.
I will next look into replacing the door weatherstrip seals and I think that that will fix all the problems before the next downpour of our rainy season this coming fall!
I will also note here that the rear window guides in my truck allowed the windows to fall out so some adjustments there may be needed.
The door's shell did not like my torquing down on them and thus the metal skin tore where the securing bolt for the lower guide is... located behind the door panel.
I used an additional larger washer, something like a fender washer works well, allowing for better support of that area for both that guide location and the door skin metal!
Do your adjustemnets prior to reinstalling the door panels.
