Well, I found the source of my brake failure. Turns out I have a hole in the front right brake line just before it screws into the backing plate. My question is what is the difference between manual drum front brake lines and front power disk lines? I would like to replace this line with the correct bent line, but don't want to change it again, when I switch to disk brakes. Are the lines the same? Now, I'm talking about the steel lines, not the flex lines. If they are different, then maybe I'll try to make one up for now. Another question, are these lines that are sold pre-bent, are they easy to install?

I've never seen a soild line that went into the front backing plate. I thought they where all flex lines to allow for the wheel to turn? Disk brakes lines have different fittings where they attach to the caliper.

I have no idea on the difference between the fittings on drum and disc as I haven't received my disc lines yet, but while we're on the subject..

Does anybody know what size the bleeders are? I need to order some speed bleeders.

I ment to say the hard line that connects to the hose.....

The 71-72 hardlines for disc are in front of the crossmember, the drum hardlines are behind it. I think the hardlines have different connections... This link says the 79 chevette flexible hose will work with the drum hardline and disc brakes... Good luck, Rg

The guys at Inline Tube are pretty helpful. They walked me through exactly what I needed when I went to front disc brakes on my 69. You might cal them. Their number is on their website www.inlinetube.com.

I purchased a full hard line system from Inline Tube and was very pleased. I am not confident in my ability to bend and flare brake lines. I'd give them a call and they will know what you need.

So, where can I get a diagram of how to install a complete front and rear brake circuit?
