Is this a good price?
I'm selling the following:
recently rebuild L6 250 with everything new 'cept the oil pump another inline 6 with full manifold, 1bbl rochester, alternator 3spd synchro'd saginaw 4spd panel truck tranny two belllhousings (left-hand and right-hand fork) all the parts you could ever want for both plus extras new starter, fuel pump, clutch assembly, two 1bbl carbs that are practically brand new full HEI setup FREE set of brand new Dynomax inline6 headers if you take it all All this and more. Is $650 reasonable? Engine has about 20k miles on it and looks/runs incredible. I haven't been getting a response yet in the engine and drivetrain forum, so I am wondering if my price is too high. This is basically a bolt-in solution for whoever buys it and you could get at least one truck with nothing but a driveshaft up and running, possibly two trucks running. Opinions?

very few people i know have any interest in 6cylinder setups so i think it will be hard to move at that price// most 6 fans are really on the cheap side and looking to get thier stuff for nothing

I'm figuring this is like ... $250 for the engine, $100 for each tranny, $150 for the entire clutch assembly and both the new carb and the slightly used carb, with $50-100 for all the additional parts, mounts and other stuff.
I guess you're right. It's such a great engine though.

I don't know about the engine, but I think $100 each is a little on the steep side for those trannies. Also that price sounds steep for a used clutch setup. But that is just my 2 cents

For a practically new 3spd tranny, $100 is steep? I saw someone posting on here recently that one of the members was looking at $350 for one from a well-known and good priced tranny shop.
I paid $100 for the 4spd. I haven't touched it. it's got a torque converter as well. Clutch assembly in its entirety (including pressure plate, etc) was $160 @ Advance Auto parts, which had the cheapest price. Has less than 300 miles on it right now. I'm offering two 1bbl rochester cards, one rebuilt less than a hundred miles ago ($120 from the store) and one less than a year old for $150 total. I'd like more feedback on why that's not a fair price.

http://shifty.org/uploads/header02.jpg http://shifty.org/uploads/header05.jpg http://shifty.org/uploads/header06.jpg Tight fit on an L6. Also, they hang low. see here: Assembled on engine: http://shifty.org/uploads/headers_linkage%20006.jpg Note that I had to ballpeen them on the Cyl #1 tube. This shows how low they hang on a 250. On a 292, they're not so bad: http://shifty.org/uploads/headers_linkage%20014.jpg I'll throw in a half can of Eastwood headerpaint FREE; they need to be blasted and recoated because I didn't strip the original paint, just prepped them. You pay shipping.

I don't think anyone makes a really, really good set of headers for the 230 and 250, only for the 292. I couldn't find any shorties anywhere. Pretty damned aggravating.

Actually the carbs sound right to me.They`re hard to find and LMC sells them for over $300.I think as a whole,I`d discount from your package price. If you want to sell individually, your prices are ok.To give incentive for complete package deal,I`d knock it down to`bout $500.

I'd throw in another daily driven inline 6, full manifold in good shape with another carb and give away a brand new set of $160 Dynomax headers FREE to sweeten the deal for $650.
Is that a little more fair?
