wheres the frame VIN???

i took my truck to the sheriffs today to get it inspected,but they wouldn't ok it because it only had 1 vin plate,i thought there was one on the frame as well,there are some #'s stamped on each side right below the door,but they dont match the vin on the door piller,any help would be much appreciated.thanx...mike

Ask them to show you, in their book, how many vin plates a vehicle is supposed to have? MOST don't have a clue.

Had nearly the same problem in CA....trying to license my 65 Chevelle SS. I had to show the lady where the door and body tags were......AND where the SMOG equipment is located on my engine (it has none...never did in 1965). I advised her I have added factory CA smog equipment to my SS - added a PCV valve and non atmosphere vented breather for this system (breather plumbed to the clean air side of my open element air cleaner). Original 1965 engines had a draft tube for crankcase evacuation!!
