3/5 drop

Anybody here running a 3/5 drop springs on their truck? I was going to use this on my next project. I used 2/4 with drop spindles and springs before How is the ride with the 3/5 drop springs? The truck is a 72 short step Chevy with a 350 in it. Will I have to relocate the shocks in the rear?

I am running 3-5 springs. Rides not bad, not great either. You will want to run rear shock locators. Got the springs from CPP and relocators from Early classics. No alignment issues although its close to limit.

Probably also want a set of drop shocks.

Heres some pics of mine, rims are 15x8.5 w/ 255-60 front and 275-60 rear.

What is bad about the ride? Too stiff?

Stiff on upwards motion, sounds wierd but when you hit a bump and spings/shocks compress down, its ok. When you have the opposite effect its a little harsh.

Would the rear drop be the same as a flip with a rear leafer? I plan on using 2.5" drop spindles on the front to avoid the geometery and shock issues though I know I will have to use shock relocators on the rear.

What is the rearend housing / frame clearance with your drop?

Sweet, I like that stance. How did you lower it and what size rims and tires do you have?

Wheels: 15" x 8" Front & 15" x 10" Rear
Tires: 225/70/15 Front & 275/60/15 Rear

Something I haven't done yet, but would recommend is a C-notch Kit and Adjustable Panhard Bar. It would even be a good idea to get shock relocators.

Thanks for the compliment.

I got a 3/5 coil drop in my 71. Mine I would say is a little stiff as well. I did go with some shorty shocks and the front alignment is at about all she can take on the camber ( I think thats what its called the / \ of the wheels to make em look like ||) If you want to do it right get an adjustable panhard bar and a shock relocator kit. I have 255 50R15's on mine and the front rim rubs just a scosh when cranked to the left all the way. I didn't even notice it until I got a flat and took off the tire!!

I used Classic Performance 3" drop spindles in the front with 5" drop coils in the back with the proper shocks. I did not use the shock reloction plates though, I am planning on installing them later. I also have 255/55 BF Goodrich Scorcher T/A's on 17x8's in the front with 265/55 on 17x9.5's in the rear. I have taken it to California several times and it is a comfortable ride. Cruising at 80 with the A/C on.

Hope that helps
