it was a PA truck I'll bet.
These were required on trucks sold in PA.

Could you post your VIN number? That Z18 option I believe should cause a special character to be put into VIN number.

Why would any option do anything to the VIN? The VINS on these trucks decode NO options at all in any way shape or form.

However, after looking it up, Z55 was the PA required data plate.

Because in some of the literature, from what I can piece together, is that for Pennsylvannia (and New York), to legally haul (at the max GVWR or then some? and for an additional license fee) you would HAVE to order certain RPO's (hd springs, and/or hd shocks, and/or hs front sprints, or 11,000lbs axle etc) and in addtion to the required RPO's you get an RPO Z55K with it listed, known as a "K" plate. There is also a "T" plate. (But I see the OP states "Z18-gvw Rating Plate Sta"). The RPO Z55K is listed in the books as "Z55K Serial Number Plate or "Plates. So that caught my eye.

Also the literature states that for a "K" or "T" plate a "K" or "T" respectively is in the VIN number.

For GMC's you notice the dash in them sometimes? This is the state certification code. A "standard" GMC VIN for example, looks like: CS134-ZZ55107. Now if this same truck was ordered with the Z55K options, this VIN *should* look like: CS134KZZ55107.

That is why I plead my case to the OP to PLEASE post his VIN number and glovebox option sticker. I would love to see if that is what he has!!! I don't know when you will see another one like that (if indeed that is what he has on his hands). I have not myself.

Also just as the VIN for GMC is suppose to have the extra code in it, supposedly for Chevrolet, the VIN would look like KCS140Z123456 or if it was "K" plate.

My references are the 1967-72 Factory Assembly Manual (the blue book) and all the 1967 through 1972 Dealer Data Books, and a pamphlet from 1966 labeled "Pennsylvania Registration Classes, Gross Weights and Equipment"". I do not speak authoratively but connecting the dots, this is what I see.

Not all models qualified for the "K" or "T" plate option. The books reference it for 1967 through 1971 for sure, don't recall off hand for 1972.

Here Is What I Know About The Truck. 1972 Chev Lwb C-10 Deluxe I Believe It Was Bought New In Alabama .the Son Of Owner Got It And Had It 4-5 Years And Had A Rod Go Thru The Block.the Person I Got It From Had It Stored In His Barn About 2-3 Years. I can find no references to your D99, L08 and Z18 options for 1972 pickups.

I have see D99 used in 1969 , 1971 and now yours in 1972. but only on the glovebox sticker only. Do you know what it looks like? It is suppose to be a 2 tone paint stripe. Able to describe it?

I can only guess that the L08 is a decal of sorts in the engine compartment for emissions?

Z55 is officially listed for 1972, C10 only.
Z55 needs J70 Power brakes, F60 HD fron sprint, G50 hd rear springs.
You have 2 of the 3 for that one. So that's out.

That Z18 description sounds like something similar to the Z55 option, in my best guess.

You sure have a unique vehicle based on those options.
