My Truck - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

This is Jebb. I bought him on Ebay a couple years ago. I was looking for this exact truck for a long time before I found him. I wanted a 1978 just like my Dad had when I was a kid. I used to go with him everyday on a paper route he added on to his list of jobs to support us when we first moved to Arizona. I had to stop going when I started school but those are some of my happiest young memories. The truck is exactly the same with the exception of the long bed, two tone option (that is the only thing I wanted and didn't get) and the 4 speed (his was a T-350). The 4 speed I wanted because it makes it feel like an old truck and the short box was a must. Everything else is identical including the interior. It was a 2 owner truck that spent all it's previous days in the salt free Sacramento area. The weather must be very mild because you are looking at original paint. It has not been restored, I did a major engine overhaul and a few small things and I am just as happy as could be with it. The only things I have really changed is the aftermarket stereo and wheels which are both back to stock now. I did do some upgrading under the hood when I did the motor to but nothing radical. I do plan to lower him and put a secret audio system in. What do you guys think?

Nice truck! That does look very similiar to my 77 when it was stock. You found a keeper there...

Dooode your on a roll now. It looks like you got it figured out. Now go get started on lowering it. BTW- keep us updated with lots of pics....

I just got my lowering shackles in yesterday! I am going mild for starters. I am going to cut 1/2 a coil in the front and use a DJM shackle kit on rear. I did some measuring last night and it looks like I can get about 3 to 4 inch drop in the rear so I am going to start with around 1 inch in the front. According to my tape measure this should level it out. I passed this link on to a family member of the gentleman that owned the truck before me (through his ebay account). I hope to update the thread for him once I get the work done. I hope he approves and feels that he sent Jebb to a good new home.

Well I finished my little suspension project last night (for now). The truth is the only one that would ever notice I did anything is me

. It doesn't look much different. I didn't have to touch the coil springs because all the shackes did was level the truck out. I am happy with it, 45 Minuets of my time and $45 bucks was worth the pay off. At some point I will go a bit lower but it's good enough for now. Here are some more detailed photos of the whole truck including what I just did. Can you tell at all?

Thats it for now. My next project is to duel snorkle the original aircleaner. I bought extra parts at a junk yard to make it all functional and all out of factory parts. I am hoping I can make it look stock only cooler. Well thanks for checking in on Jebb. Let me know what you think and of you can tell that anything was done.

You might want to look and see if you can find a 305 HO motor in an 84-85 Z/28 Camaro, Trans Am or Monte Carlo SS They came with a dual snorkel breather.

Your truck looks better. It has a nice sporty look now....

Just got a reply from PO's son in law. I sent him a link to this thread to share with the PO. The Previous Owner mentioned when I was picking up the truck that he would be interested in knowing what became of the truck. I got a bit of bad news

but it is still really cool to have communication with Jebb's second family. Thanks again for your response Dale, it was nice to hear back from you.

the truck looks great! I am sure the family will really enjoy seeing it. Unfortunately, my father-in-law passed away in Dec 03 but my wife's mother and brother will be absolutely thrilled to see these pics. It'll bring back memories for sure. It just so happens that my brother-in-law and I just finished rebuilding the engine (big block) in his 72 Cheyenne. We started it on Saturday and can't wait to break it in.
