Mystery fluid Identified..

And it is oil. I pulled the 2 bolts on the passenger side of the intake right by the carb. And I noticed on the gasket where the intake sat there was a slight bit of oil coming out. I cleaned off the threads and put some more lock tight on them and put them back in. Now for the dub question How did oil get in there?

Thanks

locktite is not a thread sealer!! it may stop the leak short term but a far better choice would be a heavy duty oil resistant thread SEALER like the instruction book calls for to block the flow of the oilup the bolt and out onto the intake

Where does it come from, those bolt holes go right thru the block to the lifter valley.

Actually Loctite makes all kinds of sealers including thread sealer. Most people think they only make thread lockers but they have lots of other products.

http://www.accessconnect.com/loctite_threadlocker_.htm

If you use the thread sealer your problem will stop, at least it did for me.

The bolt holes in the heads are not "blind"....thru & thru....right behind them...pushrods! #4 rookie mistake of all engine builders...installing incorrect length of intake manifold bolts....and not using thread seal.
