Lowering Question

This is the first truck I have had that is lowered it is 3 in front 4 in rear.
I notice at slow speeds I can really feel the bumps and what not in the cab like in the floor boards Is this just the energy transfering into the frame since the springs are so short now? In other words is this just the ruff ride I have to get used to? Will better special lowered shocks help?

Thanks

How is your truck lowered?

*Front: drop spindles, lowered springs, cut springs
*Rear Coils: lowered springs, cut springs, lowering blocks
*Rear Leafs: flip kit, lowered springs, extended shackles
*Front/Rear Shocks: except for drop spindles most shock mounts need to be extended or use drop shocks

*Low profile tire can add to a rougher ride
*Higher tire pressures can add to a rougher ride
*All of the suspension components should be properly lubricated

If your shocks are the stock height then you have lost 3 inches of effectiveness in the front and 4 inches in the rear. Plus in the rear the angle of the shocks has changed making them less effective. In the rear how close are the rubber bumpers to the frame. When the bumpers contact the frame the springs and shocks are no longer functional and you will feel the rear suspension hop.
This should get you started at identifying the problem. Any of the Board vendors should be able to assist you with parts needed to restore a better and more stable ride to your 35 year old lowered truck.
My S10 has been lowered (drop spindles & blocks) for the last 11 years and they did not ride well before. It could use a new set of performance shocks and a frame notch.
My 1970 C/10 (rear leafer) will have a 3 / 5 (spindles & flip) drop along with rebuilding the rear leaf springs and shackles, frame notch, drop shocks in the front, shock relocators in the rear, front and rear sway bars (need to find the rear sway bar).
