Bought Not Built

Not usually the way I'd do it but this truck is set up the way I'd build one given the time and oppurtunity, so I went ahead and just bought it.

Fairly well optioned 1972 Cheyenne 3/4 ton 4x4.
With some nice mods mixed in.

396/400/205/4:11's turning 285-16's on later model rally wheels.
Tilt/tach/air/sliding glass/head liner/cargo light.

Set up with a receiver hitch and brake controller already installed.
New shocks, new springs and an add-a-leaf over load spring in the rear.

Tows really well/solid, I pulled home my 04 Trailblazer from PA with it.
Had a set of mounted 37's in the bed too. (couple/few hundred extra pounds)

Not to many pics yet but I'll have a chance to do that over the weekend.

[EDIT] I should of mentioned this before...my bad.
I got this truck through the board and as always, it was great to meet yet another 67-72trucks member.

Needs a plow...I have a spare.

So, will all those stepside bed parts of mine you still have fit in the bed?

If you decide to take off the bumper guards then you should definately take off the tubular door steps (IMO).

Nice catch. I am not against the bumper guards. I forgot how tall the bumper guards were. Unless you are going to use them I don't like the tube steps. Remember when they were to propect your body while offroading. Chrome differential cover! Guessing it did not see too much dirt. Stock chrome rear bumper. Was this used to pull a boat? I like it!
Did you use your TrailBlazer to pull the trailer to the 72 4x4?

Yes.
The Trailblazer does surprisingly well but a full size 3/4 ton 4x4 would just be to much for the suspension/tires.
Not to mention it would be WAY over the specified towing capacity.

Wasn't that truck on the board recently? I swear I saw it posted as a new member, then not long after that he was selling it. DANG nice truck, IROC blue and Artic white if I remember correctly. After seeing those pics I'd like to get the same paint scheme on my 70.

VT damn you find some really nice rides. Your wife must be just as cool as my girlfriend (which is why I will marry her) considering how many vehicles that you have bought since I have been on this board. That truck is beautiful, I would put the new style aluminum 8 lug whees, loose the mudflaps and blue bugshield if you want my opinion. Yes, I know they are like buttholes, everyone has one. Nice truck either way. At least your chevy's tow chevys, unlike my 2000 3/4 crewcab 4x4 diesel powersmoke ford.

Weekend Update

Spent some time Fri/Sat messing around with the truck, you know...checking things and fixing stuff.
Seems theres always something that needs to be done.

My list wasn't to bad, at least it's done.
Bug guard - gone
Tube steps - gone
Mud flaps - need em around here, gotta keep those
Tools and boxes loaded and ready for work on Monday

Turned out that on the way home I lost the pass. side manifold gasket
The bolts were only finger tight, had to replace it
That one took awhile being on the A/C side and the fact that the exhaust was one piece front to back and wouldn't drop far enough to come off the studs because it was hitting the t-case

Other than that, it's a nice, clean, rust free, solid, no squeeks truck.
