Something new everyday
Pulled the boat to the lake the other day for a lil crappie fishing. Got ready to load the boat and oleblue wouldn't start. Ck'd under the hood, wires, fuel, all ok. Would spin over but no start. After a couple of minutes it fire right up. (strange). Next day, got off work, same thing no start. Buddy of mine helped out and found out I had no spark. Ck'd wires, dist, everything found nothing. Tried again and she fired right up. My bud suggested I have the module ck'd out that's in the dist. I got home pulled it, took it to Autozone. Ck'd it 5 different times on the testing unit, 3 times it failed, twice it worked fine. I always thought these things went bad and that was it, guess not. Learn something new everyday.
Sorry so long just thought I would share.

let it be a lesson, always carry a spare. they're small, and guaranteed to cut your cussin and sweating in half just by knowing you have one handy.

My motto is "when in doubt, throw it out". I can't stand having an unreliable vehicle. Hmmmm...I wonder if it will work this time.

it's been my experience with modules that they cut out when warm...but that doesn't surprise me at all...the chevy ones seem to be much more reliable than a ford module though, I sell more Ford than Chevy modules... and I know it's not because there are more Fords here....

I also always thought that when they died, they were completely dead!

If you carry a spare your old one will never go out. Better to have and not need than to not have and need.

I had this same problem about 8 months ago with my HEI in my 68. I even tried putting different dielectric grease, then I tried using some Arctic Silver Thermal Compound that I use on my CPU for overclocking, and when it warmed up, my truck would lose spark and Die!! I changed my module after a week of trying to find out what was wrong, and I never had another module problem since!! Plus my module that kept having problems was only 5 months old.
