I have been working on the interior of my 85. Here are some pics of what i have done so far. Let me know what you think. I will post more when I get more done tomorrow.

I am with you smokinn. When I first saw that picture I had to really study it till I new it was not part of the truck and then I saw the dash pad on top of the couch. It does look good. Glad you did not put that couch in the cab.

The wall paper did match the color of the truck.

Yes it is tweed, I got it off of E-bay since no one around here caries it.

Here are a few more pics, I will need to take some of it back out and redo it since it isnt sticking in parts.

Not sure about the defrost holes but I am thinking of making a guage bezel out of the plate.

Yes I did it my self and thanks for the complement. I used headliner adhesive and when I ran out I just used regular spray adhesive and those are the parts that are coming loose since it wasnt rated for the heat.

so is it just one piece of tweed covering the dash? I always wanted to try and use some sort of fabric to cover my dash, but I was worried about the odd shape of the dash and wrinkles forming at the crease where the a/c and gauge section begins. I suppose if you pulled it tight enough it might work. You might aught to do interiors for others. It could be a great second income, because it looks just that good.

Thanks for the complements. It is one piece of tweed on the dash. I didnt end up with put one wrinkle but that was because my son was helping hold it up while I was putting it down and he dropped the tweed on the spray adhesive. If you cover your dash with material make sure you use tweed or something that will stretch and somewhat compress so it will go around the pends and such.

Excellent work you did there. I had a mint dash pad sitting on my shelf for a few years, took it down recently and of course it NOW has a few cracks. I'm not going to bother hunting for another one. Guessing a set of speaker grilles and/or defroster trim pieces could be fabricated to go over the tweed as well? I was considering stripping one down to bare metal and 'glassing it but I like the tweed more.

Did you start with a perfect dash pad? Or did you do some smoothing to a cracked one, before applying the tweed? When referring to adhesive, was it regular 3m spray adhesive in the black can?

I work at a steel fabricating facility and I have any metal and machine I need available to me. I run a machining center and that is how I milled and beveled the edges.

I used the dash that I already had that was cracked and had holes where the speakers go, If you look really close you can see where the crack is but it isnt that noticable. The spray adhesive I used was called Stay Put, after I used it I read the can and it was only rated at 180F. It was something I use when I work on mobile homes at my 2nd job.
