What did you get done this weekend?

It is getting late, and Ken hasn't started this thread yet...hopefully you don't mind Ken if we get started without ya.

What did you get done this weekend?

I got my core support installed, and all the stuff that goes on it as well. I also fabricated my trans cooler brackets and installed them along with the new cooler. Speaking of trans coolers, I purchased that this weekend along with all the braided teflon line and fittings...just like Mike did on his '85. Next up, I need to paint my shroud and upper radiator bracket...then install the tranny lines.

What did you get done?

I was out of town for a few days so I didn't get much of anything truck related accomplished. I went to a convention in Las Vegas on Thursday and got back on Saturday. I spent time doing business, then had some "quality" time with my wife.

Friday night we went to see David Copperfield at the MGM Grand casino, then went to dinner with friends at the new casino "Wynn". The Grand is nice, but can't begin to compare to Wynn. It is the most upscale casino on the strip now. If you win really big there you can drop be the Ferarri dealership they have located inside the casino.

My wife sat at the black jack table with a buddy of mine. He likes to play two or three hands at a time so she played his second hand. With his guidence they won 3500.00 playing on his money. He gave her 400.00 for playing his hand. Not bad for an hours work.....

Today I washed all our daily drivers, and worked in my yard. What did you get done?

Man, Jeff, that's looking really good. Like I've said before, ... professional grade. (maybe, you're taking some pointers from those GM videos. )

Cleaned up the truck including the engine bay. Tossing the idea around of replacing the high pressure power steering hose and the seals for the input shaft of the power steering gear.

Also, hit the local car show. In the first pic, the truck is wearing 21s. I believe in the second pic, the rod pictured has been selected as the Goodguy's Street Rod of the Year (2005). And, the third pic shows a bit of muscle.

Hmmm.... truck wise...

Filled up on Saturday afternoon. Washed it today (sunday). Buddy is gonna sell me his '86 steppie. It's a pile of dookie, but the bed is in better shape than mine, just needs wood. $500. I figure I'll sell the front clip and part it out, hopefully make the $500 back.

I GOT A JOB!!! Foot Locker. $5.75 an hour. not bad considering minimum wage is like 5.15. Work tuesday, wednesday, thursday, and friday ever week, 4-9 or 5-9. So i'm gonna get at least 30 hours a check. Not bad if I do say so myself!!

Now I remember why I like the bench seat.... finally got me a better half. She's really sweet. officially started dating today, been hanging out for a week, talking for a couple.

Ahhh life is grand. Time to change the avitar :-D

I actually worked on one of my trucks this weekend. I put a 700R4 in my 78 Jimmy, so I officially have a running and driving 73-87 truck. Although it sounds minor, it is a pretty big victory around here.

Now I have been trying to keep my eyes open for an 89-91 suburban to part out. I really want power mirrors and TBI. I have a Blazer tank, fuel lines, and wiring harness to add power everything and fuel injection to the 78.

Had a baby shower on saturday for my wife....... Almost finished rebuilding the q-jet on my stepside. Got to get a choke pull-off and some new butterfly screws, then I can finally get it done. Other than that nothing......

Yeah, the craftmanship on that '29 rod is marvel-ous. The Rodder's Journal did a nice write-up on it a couple of months ago. Back then, it wasn't wearing leather or color. The owner had a great deal of input with the design and Pinkee's execution was sweet. (Their '51 F*rd Wagon got recognition a couple of years ago.) I wonder if this gonna set the precedence for 'high-dollar' 'rat rods'.

I found the rear suspension (among other things), very interesting. It's like a 4-link with the upper bar a normal link bar. The lower link is half of a spring pack that is cantilevered to act as a spring as well as a link bar. Very trick rod.

I celebrated my 30th birthday and I've got enough $$$ this next paycheck to order my front end kit from performance suspension. My tires are wearing on the inside bad. The front is pigeon-toed in at the top and I'm going through tires about every 6 months.

I washed and waxed and polished, then degreased the engine, then put on a chrome open element filter.

Jeff- Love the progress, I wish mine looked like it moved along that fast! I'm still at the point where you spend hours on it, and it looks like you did nothing. BAH

-On an up note, I had someone interested in my S10 blazer, so I decided to part with it, as the deal was right for me at the time. I'll be flying out of Kansas City thursday morning to Kentucky to pick up my new ride and drive her home. I'm excited!

There is a ton of innovative things on that car. Eric is a free thinker and is fortunate enough to find customers that allow him to put it to use.

If the 48 Chevy truck of Carrol Smith's every gets finished it's going to be awesome. Right now it's setting in the back of Roy's Body shop (Roy Pigford, Pasadena TX) waiting for completion....

Spent Friday/Saturday/Sunday helping move my mom to her new crib in Paris, TX. Didn't do anything vehicle related short of drop off a bunch of fittings, for the wifes 98, with my cuz to have him nickel plate them.

Thanks Ken, boxrodz, and Steven...I appreciate the kind words. Steven, I spent 6 hours on what you see there, I still can't believe that's all I got done. I spent more time fab-ing the brackets for the cooler than anything else (store run, fabrication, paint, etc..)...but I did get it to bolt up to existing holes in the core support.

Happy Birthday Brandon!
