i run mine at 550-600 in drive and 850 in park .. if it idles fine lower ... why not set it lower and save the gas and extra braking force needed to hold her back

what do all you guys run on the manual trannys in neutral? if mine goes much under 1000, it feels it wants to die(and will if set too low)

I try to idle my 383 about 850-900 in park......much more than that, & the mech advance on the dist is kickin in, & that makes the idle "unstable". It is different from one app to the next tho (depends on the dist & the curve). most of the modified stockers (dist), arent really( easily )adjustable as to where the curve starts/stops. for the guys that are running MSD , or other aftermarket distributors, the game is a little more fun, & a lot more tuneable. also, what works for mine may not work for yours.....they all tune just a tad differently (depending on cam /comp ratio/blower, ect).Best of luck, L
