Another soft top issue...

Does anyone know why the soft top on our 70 Blazer has so much road noise? The wind catches it, sides on or off, and makes it smack against the roll bar. The padding is in the roll bar so we've tried removing it to make more space, but it still gets it. It seems to be pulled tight. Of course, the noise is worse when the sides are off, and mainly happens at highway speeds. It wouldn't be much fun to have to listen to it for a long period of time on the road, so we're hoping to resolve the issue. Any ideas?

I think it is just a fact with the soft tops and the areodynamics of the trucks. The air is lifting the front of the soft top as it goes over the windshield, and then drops right at the position of the roll bar.

You could try putting some snaps or velcro into the top and the roll bar to have it act as an extra bow. The top on my '69 doesn't slap too much because of the roll bar is right next too the front bow (old kayline snap top). I don't have a roll bar in my '72, but the top still has a slight slapping noise.

I have the fasttrack and as said, one of the bows is right above if not super close to my roll bar.. so its a non issue. Slaps less then a wrangler soft top... i still hate any soft top on the freeway. Also could depend on the style roll bar you have.
