Gibbs Oil IMPRESSIVE

I tested some Gibbs oil this afternoon. I am cutting out rust in my truck floor and patching in good clean metal. The steel rems that I picked up are about 1 square foot in size and have some minor surface rust from setting around for a couple of years. So I had been using a rust converter like Naval Jelly or Rust Mort ( Phosphouric acid is primary ingredient in these products). I wipe it on and let it set for 30 minutes or so and then hit both sides with a stiff wire brush in my angle grinder cleaning all of the rust off and down into the slight etch that the corrosion left. It works well and after a little work I have a good clean panel to cut and weld in.
Today I did the same thing, only used Gibbs instead. WOW!
When wire brushing off the Rust Mort or what have you I would notice rust colored metal under the surface treated metal in places and it required some real heavy wire brushing to remove. Not so with the Gibbs. It penetrated right through the rust ( it actualy became liquid as I rubbed the stuff on) and when wire brushed off the rust was gone and the minor etching seemed very cleaned out, It cut the time by about 1/4 of the time it took with the Mort and Jelly stuff. The metal looked a lot better after treatment also.

Their ad makes it sound like snake oil, reverses the rust process, penetrates steel like stain soaks into wood , these are some of the claims.
I believe it IS DOING something different then any of the other Ospho type rust convertors that I have used.

I highly reccomend it for a rust inhibitor on tools and guns also. You wipe a little on and let it set and I swear you can't feel any oilyness like WD and the others. Put a drop on your finger and rub a little and it seems to dry and you feel no oil .
Smells somewhat, but nothing like some of the other Wonder Oils out there!!
Try it!!

I applyed some to a Jeep truck hood that is on the next project next to the 68. It was about a square foot or so and the rust is merely surface rust. I let it set overnight and wiped it down with a rag and the rust almost dissapeared.!!! I had to sand through on another area to get the same results. Put a little on the surface rust, let it set over night and a light wire brushing should leave a very clean metal.

You guys need to try this stuff!!!

I've heard good things about Gibbs oil but never tried it. I guess there is nothing like it when it comes to busting rusted bolts and nuts loose. Where did you order it from?

I did a search on Google and ordered from a distributor. It cost 20.00 for a big can and a little goes an awful long way.

I have the address at work. But the roadster site has it also. You can ask for a discount if you buy more than 1?? At least try...
