chrome 1/2 headlite covers?

Does anyone know what they are actually called or where I can get a set for my 69? Ive seen them before & thought they looked pretty cool, do they cut a lot of light away from our already !@#$ lighting? Thanks...

headlight half covered=half as bright

they're technically against the law and you can get equipment violations for having them installed weather the lights are actually on or not

I had a pair on my '54 Ford 2-dr, then put them on my '56 Mercury after the Ford got totaled. I don't honestly remember them reducing the light output, but logic says they did. They were chromed on the both sides, and the light that was reflected by the upper eyelid, was available for the lower part of the reflector.

They're old school, for sure. I'd classify them in the same genre as the Fiesta (3-bar) and Lancer (4-bar) flippers that we used to use for customizing our cars....along with fender skirts, nosing and decking, Lee's tail light lenses, etc.

There is a version seen now and then that divides the headlight into halves, with a divider down the middle...and made from heavier material than the old shades were.

I think I'll pass, but to each his/her own and do what you like (or so Cream said in their Desreali Gears album.

As much as I hate saying there name... LMC has them.
Note however, they are chromed steel and WILL rust in about 2 years on a daily driver...quicker if you are in the rust belt.
Myself.. I think they rock, but I did see a reduction in lighting.
And I did get quite a few warnings on the aformentioned equipment violation. Here in Ohio, in Tenn, Ky, and Tx.

CORNFED: Head light shield trim is what covers top half of the head light . I do have them on my 68 step side. Can see okay during night driving . They were on the ride when I made the purchase. Otherwise I would not have thought to get them . Have seen them at American auto supply in my hometown. Larry

I run them on everything. I get them from Night Prowlers for about 8 bucks. Never had a rust problem with them, this is Texas though.

I have them and always heard they do not reduce lighting but since I rarely drive at night, I can't say.

I will say one thing...they rust as soon as they leave the pack! Cheap Taiwan chrome! Keep a good supply of chrome polish on hand.

I would love to find these in polished stainless steel but haven't so far.

BTW, J.C. Whitney has them and Mr. Gasket makes them too. I would think most speed shops would be able to get them.

I have them on my GMC and didn't really notice a difference in the amount of light being emitted. I am worried however that some day some officer of the law is going to have a problem with them though.
