Headlight problems

I have a new (to me) 1983 K20 Silverado 4x4 Camper Special. I am starting off trying to make it safe and legal to drive on the street, and finally got it running last night. It was a former fire truck, and had some weird wiring on it that was removed by the FD before I bought it.

The headlights are a bit funky. When I first brought it home, the only low beam light that worked was the top passenger's side headlight. The only high beam light that worked was the bottom driver's side headlight.

I found a bad connection on the top driver's side light, and also found a cut wire (yellowish) on the bottom driver's side that I re-spliced together.

Now I get both top lights on low beam, but on high beam I get only the two driver's side lights; the passenger's side lights cut off completely on high beam.

Any suggestions on where to look next? I am a complete newbie at this.

Thanks,

Bud

your post is very descriptive and i accually visualized your situation and the best idea that comes to my mind is check the complete passenger side wires of the headlights and if that doesnt find anything than the other thing do your top row of headlights have the same connectors (either a two prong or a three prong) my truck light are three prong on the top 1984

I will recheck the prongs for consistency as well as the wiring. Thanks for the help.
