Thumbs up Updated 60-63 Windshield Glass and Gasket Info

Thought I would pass this along to anyone with a 60-63 requiring windshield replacement. I learned the hard way and the whole purpose of these forums is to help each other out with information. So with that here goes:

The glass that was installed and was defective (cut too short) was from PPG. PPG does not produce glass for these years since there is not a large enough demand for it, so their brand (PPG) is not on it, they aquire it from a subcontractor, when they came to get the bad piece they had a new windshield in the truck, I looked at it, it was branded ShurVue (same kind taken out), I looked at the stickers on the glass from the company that produced it and was shocked to see "Made in South Africa"!!!!! Wholly c$%p!! So there and then I knew NO ShurVue Third World Country NoN OEM Windshields for me!!

They took it back refunded my full amount $450 and left. A correct GM Certified (I saw the stickers on glass and Seal package- I peeled them off and am looking at them as I write) Piece of Glass (Pilkington DW587/GTN - Glass) and (Pilkington WBL 587 GM Windshield Seal, No Trim 60-63 Chev/GMC truck) was installed. Fits like a glove, looks perfect, and was only $18.01 more!!! Total install was $468.01

Pilkington Glass purchased LOF (Libby-Owens-Ford,USA) in 1985, Pilkington LTD is based out of St Helens Merseyside, UK.

I hope this will be of some assistance to some of you, Remember you can buy cheaper, but it's like Mr. Goodwrench use to say "You Can Pay Me Now, or You Can Pay Me Later"!!!!!

Thanx for the heads up '62 I'm still hoping for the best ,so far for me, ordered windsheid and rubber, glass came, but no rubber, reordered rubber and was told 2 weeks for it to come in,2 1/2 weeks pass and no call so I call them, shipper lost my shipment so they order another... If luck has anything to do with this process (I'm praying it doesn't) I'm not doing so well ,but I'm still keeping positive about it
Thanx again T

Part of the word "supplier" is lier (yes, I know it isn't spelled right but it is a verbal joke anyway). Get a tracking number, that lost shipment biz is hokum.

The problem I've encountered of buying a windshield from one source and having the local glass shop installing it, it that the local shop won't guarantee it if it cracks/breaks during installation.

Had my glass done yesterday,it looks awesome!! no shading across the top but I can live with that.
Like '62 I had the same problem with the corners.
The new glass(Pilkington DW587) & rubber(a GM part) fit perfectly.
I hope everyone learns from our misfortunes on this
Mr. Goodwrench still got his moola,so why monkey around LOL
