Finally got my truck today!

Well, my '62 was delivered to my house today and it is in better shape than I thought it would be. It needs glass all around, a 235 exhaust manifold, and the shift rods for the column shifter. Classifieds and eBay here I come.

I'll post some more pics when I get back to the house.

Even came with a spoon Congrats on the find. When it first arrives is one of the most fun parts of the whole project.

It was a truck from a cotton farm, all kinds of bale slips under the seat along with Wrigley's gum wrappers and bearings new in the box for some sort of machinery, probably some harvesting equipment.

I worked on it today getting the rear bumper off, what was left of it. Someone welded it to the frame at the end, really crappy work. I thinned it out with my grinder, took the four bolts out, one whack with an 8 lb. sledge and each side was off. I took the front seat out and set it in the garage and am in the process of removing the gas tank, forever. I am amazed at how good a shape the floor boards and other areas are. the bottoms of the front fenders are nonexistant as usual, but that is it. The bed wood dry rottedleaving bautiful metal underneath. This truck was a find.

on the new project!!!

I've always liked those knee knockers myself - I grew up in a '63 my dad bought new back in the day. We're from Brady Texas out San Angelo way.

Got a name for her yet? may I suggest "Rusty"?
Are you going to go with a bone stock restoration?
A modernized resto with a stock look?
Or somewhere between there and "praise the lowered"/"louvered 'till she whistles dixie at 50mph"?
Are you an in-line 6 "uuhdn-uuhdn" kinda guy or do you prefer the roar of a V8?

Well Greg, it will be lowered, metallic paint with the white accents, WWW, with '60 Buick caps. As for the plant, I'm going to ditch the 235 for an updated mill in the 230 to 292 range with a three on the tree. If I can't get the mill I want, I'll probably go the other way and get a Caddy or a BB BOP, haven't decided there. It doesn't have to fly in my current vision of the truck, but if the six setup I want does not materialize, gablog-gablog-gablog it is.

Brady huh? I used to got to San Angelo to visit Hirschfeld Steel...

As for a nickname, since it was a cotton farmer's rig I was thinking of Cotton-eyed Joe, but we shall see.
