having trouble selling

I have two trucks I am trying to sell a 86 & a 68 chevy long beds. both are decent trucks. I figured that I wouldnt have any trouble selling these trucks. I was wondering if anyone else was having trouble selling their old trucks? Maybe I am to high on my price or is it high gas prices or just bad timing? I took both trucks to a swapmeet last weekend, lots of lookers but no offers.

I seem to be having the same problem with my 71 short step side I'm trying to sell. I would also like to know what's the problem with selling theese trucks.

This link should help explain

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s....php3?t=155024

*edit* after re-reading, are you able to list, just unable to find a buyer?

67c10step What does that link have to do with the reason for the trucks not selling??? I don't understand what you meant by that. It has nothing to do with the trucks not selling.

You didn't post pics or prices so it's hard to tell. But just by driving by Greenville's "motor mile" I have noticed a LARGE stockpile of used trucks. Unless an older truck is super cheap and nice, I think everyone is having trouble selling trucks with these crazy gas prices.

Cableguy0 is right. With gas prices the way they are, people aren't buying vehicles with lousy gas milage. Thus, less demand, so, lower prices.

I don't think the gas prices have that much to do with it. Maybe a little.
They buyer in this market isn't very concerned with MPG, if they were, they wouldn't even be looking

I think it has alot to do with your location as well. Selling a specialty vehicle like these takes the right buyer in the right place. Maybe people aren't willing to pay for something and have the extra expense of travel and or shipping on top of it.

When I was trying to sell a rolling '69 SWB chassis last summer, I had all types of interest from guys in Texas and out west, but the distance prevented the sales

Here is the link to view the trucks. I am asking 2,500 for the 86 & 2,000 for the 68. Look & tell me if I am too high on my price & tell me what you think of the trucks.

your prices look pretty good. both look like really solid trucks. just wait a few months before you try and sell them if you can. gas prices are up the holidays are right around the corner. bad time of year to sell stuff

A good time to sell is right after everyone starts getting their tax refunds.

Good price for the 68. Looks in decent shape. I picked up a 69 K-20 for 1800 but in no means looks good at all!!!

You wouldn't have any trouble getting 2K for the 68 around here. Sometimes that's just a matter of a real buyer being around. Someone might buy the 86 strictly to get a used truck but a buyer for the 68 is likely not really thinking truck needs or first car, so it's a luxury purchase.

I`m not gonna let gas prices stop my affair with trucks.I`d like to think the same of other people. We may end up driving 3 cylinder econoboxes, but there`ll always be at least one in my driveway.

I don't necessarily think they are "too high," but like everything, they're worth what someone will pay on a given day.

I think people looking at the 68 are probably pretty savvy and are either looking for a builder or a driver. Your's is too much for a project but gas is too high for a driver.

As to the 86, again, worth what someone will pay. It seems fair to me, but I bought a 97 with 110K, air, tilt, cruise, all it needed was tires, on Ebay over a year ago for $3100. It might not be priced to high, but I wouldn't be marketing it to people who live, eat, sleep trucks - I would market to someone who just needs a truck now and then or a work truck, whatever.

Anyway, just my .02. If I had all the answers I would be selling them to Detroit for big bucks.

My personal opinion is that long wheel bases are a little bit harder to sell too.

The gas prices are having a HUGE effect on selling these trucks and new ones.

I agree with the gas price theory. People now are scared, just be glad your not floor planning 2 million dollars worth of SUV's outside your office window.

The fear will reside. But,I think it will change the new vehicle market, not a bad thing either. When the dust settles people will continue their quest for that special old truck.

It is a tough market out the now....

I have a 2001 GMC Yukon 4x4 that I have been trying to sell for 3 months now....
Kelly blue book private party price is around $16,000 (last time I buy a new car, freaking paid $40,000, and in less then three years it worth $16,000!!!)
So, I have trying to sell this for $15,000 or best offer(willing to take 13,000). Even on Ebay, I am only getting up to $9,000....

Really crappy time to sell big vehicals....

jsbgump looks like you have a pretty decent little truck as well, not priced to bad either. Figured being a swb would be a desirable truck. But just hang in there hopefully it will get better. John fabris thats a big hit in the ol pocket book. That is why I chose to update my 72 sub & my 72 swb rather than buy new. Good luck to you guys with yalls sales.

I tend to think as mentioned before, Our trucks are not generally used as primary vehicles, but as a luxury purchase, therefore, gas mileage is not a factor. I sold my Z28 last weekend in no time at all at the Super Chevy show. I would be curious to know if any of hte trucks like ours sold. I think if I remember right there were 6 67-72's for sale. I thought some of them were priced high, but like I said, I don't know if they sold or not.
