Anyone using headers in a big block 4WD application?

Hedman lists a nice set of ceramic coated headers, however, the footnote says they will not fit slant plug heads. Does anyone have first hand experience with any of the Hedman's?

Does anyone have a recommendation for headers in a big block 4x4 automatic trans application?

I am using Dynomax Cermacoated headers, part number 86022, designed for the 67-87 BBC 2WD. The Dynomax headers for 73-87 BBC 4WD would not work.

I just put on Hedman 68190 headers on my big block 396. They fit my '72 K5 without any modifications. They're the plain jane painted ones though. Nothing fancy about these for sure

But that's all I wanted.

Won't fit slant plug heads??? Are you sure you weren't looking at small block headers? BBC plugs are all slanted (toward the rear on the drivers side and toward the front on the passengers side).

AK|Bandit, I'm assuming your K5 is 4x4 automatic? Do you think your headers might clear the clutch linkage on a manual trans truck? Got any pics?

The first thing I did after I bolted them up for test fit, was put a spark plug in each hole to make sure they fit. A couple of them were tight, but they all fit.
Sorry, yep it's an automatic 4x4. I do have a couple pictures, but they probably dont show what you need to see. Let me know and I can take more pictures for you.
The only notes I found for these headers are;
* Not for use with smog injection or injection heads. * Not recommended for use with aluminum heads. * Will not fit with Saginaw 825 close ratio power steering. * Generation VI cylinder heads found on 502 engines will have clearance problems in the frame starter and spark plug areas. * Will not fit 396-454 Chevy II/Nova and 1967-69 Camaro with power steering.
