unfortunately even the hole in the firewall is different. quite a bit different. most of the guys on the boards that are familiar with this swap have gone the other way. I have the same situation here with my hot rod truck but i just painted the box so it looks OK for now. the most important thing to remember about your situation now is that the the AC trucks used an ALL vacuum controls for all the duct work so if the previous owner cut the vacuum line too you wont have anything inside the cab except heat on the floor I think that is what it defaults to. seems to be alot more to it than i thought,i see alot of pics of nice engine bays with an ugly box with two disconnected lines sticking out.i was thinking of fabbing some sort of sheetmetal box about a third that size just for blower and heater core hose's.heres another choice.sorry i don't know how to create a link.but americangraffiti.biz makes fiberglass ac delete boxes.there on the website and ebay, their proud of them though at 129.00 a pop.

You will need all the components from a non A/C truck, including the heater controls.I made a big block off plate from stainless, polished id,then cut the proper holes in it for the non A/C heater box.You can tell what I did if you know what your looking at,but it still looks better than the ugly A/C box hanging there unhooked.

I got rid of most of it. I left most of the stock parts intact, just got rid of the under hood parts & the dash vents. I havent run it yet, so I cant tell you what kind of demons Ill run into when I do...

Re: anybody done this?

If I remember correctly, the core was in the cab & no where near where I cut. I cut it flush with the heater motor level & fiberglassed it.

Re: anybody done this?

Here's the non-AC cab I used for a template...

... so I could cut out this piece...

Then I cut a piece of sheet metal to cover the old hole, and drilled it for the heater hoses and fasteners.

Re: anybody done this?

my 79 was originally an ac cab. i took that whole thing off and put a plate on there with a regular blower. it was after that when i found out about the vaccume controls. i got under the dash and moved the flapper {that directs where the heat is going} from the floor up to the defrost them put a drywall screw in it to hold it. one day i may fix it right but all i really need is defrost anyways.

Re: anybody done this?

man i must be the only guy adding a/c I cut the fire wall from an a/c truck and the one from my non-a/c blazer and welded the piece in.I am sure you could do it the other way too.

Re: anybody done this?

you could remove everything and patch in a new smoothe panel, then hang an under dash unit from Vintage air. It really cleans up the interior too.
