oil pressure sucks.....still

i did what yall suggested aobut the thicker oil (15w50) and a first it was fine but my oil pressure dropped again and wont come back and it makes it miss since i have no pressure my dad thinks its the plug wires that could have melted on the headers (used to be my valves he said but he checked em about 3 times a day for a week andchanged his theory) couldit be anything else???? help

one of your oil passages could be plugged or ypur oil pump is filled with sludge or has crapped out all together. Have checked your guage it could also be screwy

I think your gauge is going bad. If you really had no oil pressure, your engine would be doing much worse things than missing.. self-destructing comes to mind. Get a good gauge and stick it on your engine, see what's really going on.

Now the miss.. it could be lots of things.

What do you considor NO pressure? What are the RPM`s and what are the pressures at those RPM`s?

well its the stock oil pressure gauge and it goes all the way to the low end when im in idling in neutral or park and i cant have it in drive and idiling itll die im gonna check my gauge cause im replacin em all any other suggestions???

Every one of these trucks I have owned reads very low at idle with the stock gauge. If it goes to the middle when you drive it I would not sweat it.

I've got an aftermarket guage and my truck at idle/cold is 38psi and idle/warm 8psi is that normal? I've got about 30 on the highway. I dont think anything is wrong with your truck engine wise but I've kindof have the same problem. Good luck

10 psi for every 1000 rpms is the recomended standard.....

Guess i'm border line. It just makes me nurvous when I'm used to seeing 80+ on dirt motors idling at 1250 rpms. Thanks
