chassis swap
I'm not sure if this is in the right area, but I thought I'd give it a whirl. Has anyone ever heard of putting a 71 lwb body on a brand new Chev chassis (including powertrain, wiring)?
I know that sounds weird, but I was thinking of doing just that. |

bring out the welder, youll have issues including bumper horns differences , wheelbase differences, frame curve differences, major $$$$ project. why would anyone want to use the crappy chassies they make these days ?? the axles under these new trucks are total junk, ive seen tens of them blow gears out lately,,,,, even the later spindles are know to have breakage issues, the chassies under our trucks are way more superior in most all ways possible , IMO, they had them right back then and did away with them for who knows why,
good luck Last edited by Fast68Chevy; 07-06-2002 at 03:19 PM. |

You would be better off rebuilding the suspension under your '71, then adding what ever carb or computer motor and tranny. You'd be miles ahead on a better chassis, and in $$.
