Is this the correct HEI plug?
Hello, I replaces my old distributer with an HEI unit and then went to a bone yard for a donor harness. What I found was this:
a 2 into 1 harness. Is this correct? What are the 2 wires for? Shouldn't I have 2 wires hooked to the HEI. -Chuck

one of the wires is for a tach the other is the power feed. you dont need the harness . just use a female spade connector on the power wire

but but if I wanted to use an OE style connector, it would ssem that the tach wire should not be hooked into the power wire. on this harness it is. the orange wire is what actually makes the connection to the HEI terminal on teh dizzy, but the ponk power wire seems to hook ou to it too.
I looked on a few donor cars and found the same thing. Yes, I know the two terminals on dizzy are for tach and power, but what does it mean if they are configured this way in a GM OE harness? thanks

im not sure why theres two wires there. i cant remember seeing them that way but probably just never payed attention. you could always remove the thinner wire and use just the one.

Or you could use the thin wire for the electric choke. The heavy wire to switched 12v and a seperate wire for the tach.
