Can you please tell me what kind of tranny is this?, is mounted to a 292 L6 1968 chevy short bed mexican truck. Can i just swap this for a th350?

I am trying to repair the AC control assy, i have the replacement arms but no idea where to cut or drill, so if you have a diagram please share to me..

The automatics have their own cross-member,you`ll need that.

looks like an 4 speed granny transmission to me there good trannys had one in an work truck and it would pull anything around work

Where are you in Mexico? Maybe I can help. I've done the swap and can give advice or if you are close lend a hand.

You will need:

1. Cross-member from auto truck
2. Remove manual cross member
3. Vacuum line to modulator from carb
4. Kick-down cable set up

My swap went well. I installed a Hurst floor shifter rather than trying to replicate the shifter on the column.

I have a similar tranny in my garage right now, it's a 4spd. Been trying to get rid of it forever.

The 4spd in my garage looks like a SM465 or the NP435.

Good call LongHorn ! I forgot about that new radiator with the cooler built in I had to buy! A good add-on would also work if the radiator he has now doesn't need replaced.

That is a 435----just like the one in my 68 GMC. The 4 bolts on the back holding the output housing is the give away.

I know very little about this transmission. Only asking $100 for it, which is what I bought it for not even 4 months ago. Hell, I would give it to you for $75 since you'd hafta come pick it up.

I bought it from another board member down in Orlando for between $100-$150 (I forget). I have most of the brackets and crap that came with it. Need to get it off my hands. I can shoot you some pics if you want.

the back up switch is located on the top left corner maybe broken off

The steering wheel is not new, i have restored it, polished and painted the cap, even the model is a 1969 in Mexico the steering wheel came with this kind of cap 69 thru 72 models. Another diference is the bed, complete diferent the rear wheel arch is square not like in circle. I have some photos but do not know why i can not post it anymore..

I have looked the top left corner and nothing, any photos?

Yes!!!!! it looks like my wood bed, the bad thing with this kind of bed is the upper union, in my place with a lot of humidity that union gets alot of rust, i am trying to put the other type of bed. Do you know if these beds were build only for trucks outside the states?

Yes, they never sold that type of bed in the US.

Ok, so I know more now. It's an SM465 for sure and it has a torque converter attached. According to a website I found about the tranny, here is the info:

The Muncie 465 is the widest ratio 4-speed of the Big Three. It has a granny low and so then just 3 normally usable ratios.

Here are the gear ratios from drivetrain.com:

1st :: 6.55

2nd :: 3.58

3rd :: 1.7

4th :: 1

Those beds were shipped in pieces,then assembled in Mexico.Trucks were cab`n`chassis,bed option.
