Makin`a Deal on a`71 Wrecker
I`m gettin`a WRECKER!!! I have a neighbor that wheels`n`deals about anything. He`s had this`71 C/30 wrecker that he was going to use, then decided to sell. It`s pretty solid, faded and the tow body isn`t rusty. The thing is,he got it for $2,000(where was I?)and has been trying to get $4,000.No one has shown interest and since he`s had it he has fixed the brakes and added the inner wheel wells up front. They weren`t there when he bought it.He has some work he`s wanted me to do but hasn`t had the cash. The other day he was talking about some more work he`d like to get me to do.I had also told him,if I had more dough I`d really like to have that wrecker(not for $4,000,though).He said,"you do the work and the truck is yours."He lives a short walk from my house and the work(carpentry)he needs done I can do easily while I`m still doing work elsewhere for income. This is great because I really can`t be doing buddy-swaps right now, otherwise.I just had to tell somebody!I`ve always wanted one.Another good thing is,I have a shop now 20 or so miles up the road and now I`ll be able to move my stuff back`n`forth.I also have vehicles stashed around the state that need to get consolidated.Also,120 or so miles away my Mom`s farm has a big ol`barn.with 2 levels.I have one Blazer stashed up there now.So for long-term I can get stuff up there easier.YEEHAW!!I`ll get pictures soon.

I'VE GOT A 69 1 TON TOW TRUCK. I DON'T KNOW HOW ANYBODY CAN DO WITHOUT ONE OF THESE. I'VE BEEN TRYING TO THIN DOWN THE HERD OF VEHICALS HERE IN PREPERATIONS FOR MY LONG MOVE, BUT I'LL BE DRIVING MY TOW TRUCK 2300 MILES TO MY NEW HOME , TOWING MY 72 PROJECT. IT'S BEEN MY DAILY DRIVER FOR THE LAST COUPLE OF MONTHS SINCE I SOLD MY BLAZER, & GETS THE SAME 10 OR 12 MPG THAT MY BLAZER DID, EVEN THOUGH IT WEIGHS 6500 LBS. THE COOL FACTOR OF THESE TRUCKS GOES RIGHT OFF THE SCALE, & IT'S AS MUCH FUN TO DRIVE AS ANY OF THESE OLD TRUCKS I'VE OWNED (& I'VE HAD A FEW ) JOHN

I own a 72 1 ton wrecker, I've had it for about two years now. It's alway the topic of conversation whenever anyone come to my house. "What the heck did you buy a wrecker for?" I guess the answer is: "Because I could." I agree with Junkyardjohn, there is a great cool factor to owning a wrecker.

not to change the subject but
i got a question for you wrecker owners , where and what kind of inc do you all have ? when i was askin my inc company about the 81 wrecker i found and thought about buying they told me they cant inc wreckers , so i call just about every onc compaony here local and none of they would inc a wrecker. and how much is inc on one anyway ? oh yea it would be for personal use only or would it be better to be for hire ? do i need to start a new tread for this ? |

Wrecker Insurence
When I first got my wrecker and was looking for inc to get it registered I had problems with the specility vehicle inc companies. They didn't wnt to hear about it, left me falt. I went to my regular insurence co and they wrote me fo $600.00 a year including comprehensive coverage with the option og puting the vehicle in a standby basis for off season basis.

I`ll get pictures when this rain stops. It has the old chrome buds on it from my`70 C/30 I sold him a few years back.He took the booms off of it(twin trussed-type)because he had some plan to make a 5th wheel Western Hauler kinda rig.I`ve turned him on to alot of trucks that I knew about and didn`t want and we hook each other up on parts. He`s been my neighbor since`86.He`ll make it good.
