My 72 is a Minnesota Truck.....
So whilst I am in the process of tearing down my 72 stepper I decided to do abit of a history search on it. Turns out my truck comes from Lindstrom MN. It made it all the way to the UK in 92..... I have a poor but legible (just) copy of the US title which UK Customs and excise took when imported. Have this search function over here where they give you a history list for a small fee from our DMV equivalent.... Thought it was quite interesting, or maybe not, I guess it just depends on your views. Was quite cool to find that out....
Is there something similar (regarding a PO history report) in the US? Cheers Lee

There is a member from Lindstrom, but I can't remember their name for sure. I am pretty sure they have a green truck in their avatar.

As far as history reports, most states have adopted privacy laws which prevent that kind of info being given out, but 10 years ago, you would be able to go back to the original owner if you had the time and patients with the DMV clerks.
When i first got my blue longhorn back in 98, the papers were in the glove box from the original owner. So I looked them up...would you believe they were in the same house? Turned out he had passed just a few years before, and when i called looking for him she seemed a bit ticked and sounded a little scared. But once I told her who I was and why I was calling, she was sooo happy. Tirned out that Longhorn was the best vehicle he had ever owned, and he compaired every vehicle afterwards to "the old blue chevy". I mailed her some pictures and told her of my plans, and she aproved and everything. never had the heart to let her know it got totaled. |

mrein3 is up there along with his neighbor crew70. I'd be glad to export a few more rusty Minnesota trucks if you'd like.

Any of you other Minnesotans know of any 2wd short box fleet's with truck arms for sale would prefer 67-68? I am looking for one I dont care about the drivetrain but would like it to have a good body for $4000 or less, I dont want to do much rust repair.

What are you refering to as truck arms?
With a 4000 price limit, it would be a VERY good idea to look south and west. A $500 from the desert would be WAY cheaper in the long run than a nice $4000 Minnesota truck. |

uk72step, It is great to find the history on your vehicle. There are services here that provide some limited history to ensure that you do not purchase a remanufactured or salvaged vehicle. I am not sure what else they provide. I did like Longhornman and looked up the name on the protectoplate in the glovebox and called him. I got a treasure trove of take-off parts from him.
